SUITABLE:

Geologists and/or technicians dealing with geological well-site control and/or drilling operations.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course, delegates will:
  • Understand the rock mechanical concepts applied to the well design;
  • Broaden their knowledge on the drilling techniques;
  • Be able to identify the needs of the drillers in geological information.

SUMMARY:

  • Rock mechanics applied to drilling: the rock mechanic concepts, definition of the rock mechanical properties, etc
  • Drilling engineering: well design, rig and drilling equipment, general sequence of drilling a well
  • Directional drilling engineering: directional terms and definitions, trajectory computation, etc
  • Drilling fluids: functions of drilling fluids, drilling fluid types, composition, etc
  • Drill bits: drill bit classification, bit selection and performance, importance of geology
